OPENING CEREMONY

FOR THE INITIAL 17-ACRE PORTION OF THE

CALIFORNIA CENTRAL COAST VETERANS CEMETERY

DATE:              TUESDAY   OCTOBER 11, 2016

TIME:               10:30 A.M. – NOON

LOCATION:    AT THE CEMETERY SITE (REQUIRES OFF-SITE PARKING)

You are cordially invited to attend an Opening Ceremony for the initial segment of the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cemetery site located on former Fort Ord.

Following the Opening Ceremony, you are also invited to attend a gathering for celebration and refreshments at the Oldemeyer Center, 986 Hilby Avenue, in Seaside from approximately 1-3 p.m.

If You Attend the Opening Ceremony:  Please plan to arrive about 10 a.m. and park at the corner of Giggling Road and General Jim Moore Boulevard.  Personnel will be at this location to provide further assistance.  Once you are parked, you will then be transported by bus to the Cemetery site for the ceremony.  Wheel-chair accessible vans will also be provided and available at the parking location.  You will not be able to access the site from Parker Flats Road or Normandy Avenue. Seating is expected to accommodate approximately 400-500 people.

Thank you for making this possible.   The Veterans Cemetery provides a peaceful and deserved resting place for all who have served in preserving freedoms we may sometimes take for granted in our daily lives.  Your thoughtfulness, support, and generosity over the years made it possible to achieve this first 17-acre segment.  The initial segment will provide 5,000 niches in above-ground columbaria for the placement of cremains of Veterans and immediate family members.  This initial segment also includes a committal shelter for on-site memorial services, a ceremonial entrance, an avenue of flags, a memorial walk area, and administration and maintenance buildings.

The Central Coast Veterans Cemetery Foundation (CCVCF) remains committed to assuring a complete cemetery through expansion for both cremain and casket placements.

We hope you will be able to attend the Opening Ceremony on October 11 to share in this poignant commitment honoring our nation’s Veterans.
